Varnish Removal
Some of our utensils are varnished, in order to avoid that they oxidize when stored or to avoid losing their luster, like in the case of decorative products. In the case of varnished domestic utensils, it is imperative that you remove the varnish before using them.
Please follow these instructions to remove varnish:
- Fill a large container with water and soak the piece from which you want to remove the varnish;
- Add a soup spoon of sodium bicarbonate for each liter of water;
- Put it on the stove and let it boil for 15 minutes. You will watch the varnish layer coming off the product;
- Wash the utensil with water and soap, dry it on the inside with a clean cloth and, in case you want to preserve the exterior luster of the piece, use a specific product to clean metals;
If, when cleaning is finished, you verify that there is still varnish in some areas, you can easily remove it with a cloth soaked with acetone.
It is highly important that you remove all varnish before you use the utensil. Otherwise, it will turn dark due to the heat of the stove.
