I have used the refining lentils on the 600 liter alembic and the 100 liter and 50 liter water seal alembic. In all cases the resulting spirits have been 20% to 40% higher and the hearts portion of the batch has been much greater in percentage. The tails portion has been so small that there is no need to even collect it. The average time to run a batch is approximately double but the quality may be high enough to eliminate the need for additional distilling runs. We have been doing a stripping run without the lentil and without separating the tails to collect 40% ethanol. Then we include the lentil in the second run to achieve the final product of 90% ethanol. A third run is not necessary when we include the lentil.... we were distilling wine with alcohol of 10%.
